About PNV

PNV is a vote-based website for all planning news: Urban, Rural, Environmental, Economic, Transportation, Technology, Development, Preservation, Education, Federal, State, Local, International, Regional, County, City, Town, Community and Design. As its user, you participate in determining all website news by discovering, posting, commenting, voting (or burying) and sharing the news that matters to you!

Discover and Post: Find a favorite news and submit it to PNV. Your submission will immediately appear in "Upcoming News" where other users can find it and if they like it, vote on it.

Once a submission has earned a critical mass of votes, it becomes "popular" and jumps to Home in its category. If it becomes one of the most popular, it qualifies in "Top 10". If a submission does not receive enough votes within a certain time period, it eventually falls out of the "Upcoming" section.

Visit the "Upcoming" section to discover recently added news. Of course, you can always check the category Home to see what is newly popular. And you can subscribe to RSS Feeds of particular categories, popular/upcoming news, individual users and the search terms of your choice.

You can also tag news by creating your own tag or selecting from the following: Student, Teacher, New Professional, Planner, Consultant, Voter, Advocate, Lobbyist, Leader, Elected Official, Academia, Commission, Congress, Parliament, Court, APA, AICP, Downtown, Suburb, US, UK, Canada, Europe, Asia, China, India, Email, Mailing List, Website, Blog, Book, Feed, Journal, Newsletter, Research, Paper, Article, Op-ed, Image, Podcast, Video, Plan, Bylaw, Ordinance, Policy, Legislation, Appeal, Tender, Admission, Job, Grant, Award, Prize, Scholarship, Fellowship, PNV, Sprawl, Mixed-use, Zoning, Eminent Domain, Regulatory Taking, Affordable Housing, Brownfield, Mitigation, Renewal, Global Warming, Real-estate, Waste, Diversity, GIS, Opensource, Collaborative Planning, Profession, Politics, Election, Architecture.

Comment and Vote (or Bury): Share your opinions by commenting on news.

Vote! Do what planners like to do the most. Participate in the collaborative editorial process by voting the news that you like best, thus contributing to the popularity of any given news. You also build a history of votes that you or your friends can view.

Bury! If you find news with bad links, off-topic content or duplicate entries, click "Bury". That is how we KillSpam- get the spam out of PNV, and let the good news rise to the top.

PNV only works when users actively participate on a large scale, so make sure to do your part by voting (or burying) the news that matters to you.

Share: And finally, build a network. Invite your friends or find them on PNV and add them to your friends list. Then your friends can track what you are voting (or burying) and you can see what they vote (or bury) as well, enabling you to collectively find news together. So email your friends the collaborative news that you discover here.
